The Europacollege (College of Europe), located in Bruges and Natolin (Warsaw, Poland) offers postgraduate training in European studies. Since its founding in 1949, the institute has been known above all for solid, bilingual teaching (French/English) and research in European subjects. It houses students of more than 45 nationalities.
Today, the library at the Bruges campus is not only a place where students can find information for their studies, but also a place to study or consult.
RFID Solution
For years, the library has used a security solution with electromagnetic security strips. To enable self-service, the decision was made to introduce RFID in 2021.
Self Check Plus
Since the start of the new academic year 2021-2022, students in the Eliane Vogel-Polsky doctoral program have been able to borrow and return items themselves. A Self Check Plus column and security gates have been installed at the library entrance.
At the staff desk, an RFID reader is used to take in, lend and convert materials. Furthermore, the advanced visitor counter is used to record how many students visit the library.
At ekz benelux, we are proud that the College of Europe chose us for its self-service solution.
Roselien Van Loocke, librarian at the College of Europe, explains her choice: “During the selection process we received an extensive demonstration of the possibilities offered by the ekz benelux software.
After the final selection from three suppliers we were guided through the process: from converting the collection to the actual delivery.
"We have been very satisfied with the course of the project and the guidance of ekz benelux."
Smooth installation
“Everything was done in close consultation, in a timely manner and without problems. The installation took place before the start of the 2021-2022 academic year and went very smoothly. Working with the library software vendor, we were able to have the solution in use within one day.
We have been very satisfied with the course of the project and the guidance of ekz benelux”.
